Profile

Joined the company as a new graduate in 2017. After working in marketing to acquire new users for “Rakuten Edy,” gained experience in sales. Since 2021, involved in marketing for “Rakuten Cash,” and since 2023, for the “Rakuten Pay” app. Believing in the idea of “resting thoroughly when resting,” refreshes by taking ample rest on holidays.

Current Role

I am in charge of customer development marketing for the “Rakuten Pay” app. The app is equipped with various functions such as ”Rakuten Cash” and “Rakuten Points.” My role is to emphasize the customer experience and provide functions that we want to promote to users in a more understandable and user-friendly way, creating a world within the app where users choose functions according to the situation and use them as needed. To enable users to utilize various functions through the app, I promote customer development measures by providing experiences tailored to users in both the short and medium to long term.
Since my 6th year at the company, I have also been engaged in duties as a Vice Manager. My section has about 10 members, and many members are working on multiple projects. Since members smoothly progressing projects leads to stable operation, managing projects and supporting members are among my important missions.

The wide range of businesses and services offered was what attracted me to Rakuten Payment. Actually, during my university days, I wasn't clear about “what I wanted to do in the future”... I thought that with our company, which handles diverse businesses and services, I could challenge myself broadly and find the direction I wanted to go.
What I realized after joining the company is the wonderful environment that constantly allows for new challenges. There is smooth collaboration between businesses, and many collaborations with companies within the group, leading to a continuous stream of projects creating synergy. I also feel that I am increasing my knowledge and utilizing it in my career by sharing successful cases within a culture of horizontal deployment. The growth of the business and the synergistic effect of group synergy, with the entire company growing as one, also contribute to the enjoyment of my work.

Joy & Appeal of Working at Rakuten Payment

Payment services such as “Rakuten Pay,” “Rakuten Edy,” and “Rakuten Cash” are deeply integrated into users' daily lives as part of social infrastructure. With increasing cross-use with over 70 Rakuten services, we plan and execute measures while being mindful that payment services play a “hub” role in providing advantageous and convenient experiences.
In 2023, the entire Marketing Division worked to strengthen the “Rakuten Pay” app. We set goals to increase awareness and expand the number of users. We implemented various measures, including the production of Rakuten Payment's first TV commercial and new collaborations with other Rakuten services. When we achieved our goal one month ahead of schedule, with the Marketing Division, internal departments, and group business units working together as “ONE Team,” everyone was ecstatic! We re-recognized the strong bond within the Rakuten Group, and it was a project that enhanced the sense of unity in FinTech.

Future Career and Goals

One of the phrases that represents Rakuten's culture is “GET THINGS DONE.” It means to “see things through,” but it's not something that can be achieved by one person alone. Sharing knowledge from different departments and business units can spark new ideas. In the 2023 challenge, we were able to overcome difficult situations with the cooperation of members from other business units. I want to continue to cultivate a broader perspective by collaborating with other companies that have different perspectives, characteristics, and platforms.
And I want to continue to challenge myself to create customer experiences that lead to a more convenient and comfortable life. I want to create value that only our services can provide and deliver it to users. What I want to focus on in the future are initiatives targeting Generation Z. The power of young members is becoming even more important. As a Vice Manager, I want to support them and strive to create an environment where they can exert their full potential.

Message to Candidates

The young members in their 20s are playing a central role in the initiatives of my team. As the image of “Rakuten allows young people to work with discretion from an early stage” suggests, many young employees are involved in big projects. I think one of Rakuten's strengths is that it has a well-established support system, such as easy consultation through 1-on-1 communication, allowing you to confidently take on various challenges.
Another appeal is that you can deepen your professional skills through your work. I myself have gained the skill to understand and utilize the process of strategic planning using data. I also feel that I am improving my ability to quickly output data, put it into practice, and reflect it in the business.
