Feedback through 1-on-1 Meetings
To “create winning talent and winning teams,” 1-on-1 meetings were introduced to the Rakuten Group in 2017. At Rakuten Payment, 1-on-1s are flexibly conducted between managers and mentors, and members, as well as across organizations. Now, 1-on-1s have become one of the emblematic cultures of the Rakuten Group, proving useful in various situations such as alleviating anxiety immediately after changing jobs, building trust, achieving goals, feeling secure in company life, and improving operations. We aim to create an environment that maximizes employee performance by valuing deep communication that cannot be supplemented by chat or written documents.
Englishnization for Successful Business at a Global Level
Englishnization (making English the official internal language) was started with the aim of facilitating smooth information sharing among group employees both in Japan and overseas, quickly grasping the latest global information, and bringing together excellent talent from around the world to create a unified and competitive organization. This initiative has been effective not only in deepening discussions within the company as the workforce becomes more multinational, but also in strengthening exchanges with top engineers and business people outside the company, becoming a major success story for the Rakuten Group in its pursuit of becoming a true global company.
Currently, as a further initiative, we are strengthening the development of global leaders by conducting speaking training and diversity training.
